My Story
Hey there, I’m Fisher—the charmer of the Houston Zoo’s Galápagos Islands exhibit! With my sweet disposition and signature strut (chest puffed out, of course), I love being the center of attention, especially when it comes to my keepers. In fact, I’m pretty sure I love them more than I love my fellow penguins!
I sing to my keepers all the time, and because of my friendly, people-loving personality, I’m in training for guest encounters. Verbal praise? Love it. Tactile reinforcement? Even better. Basically, I thrive on attention, and I’m here to make sure everyone learns just how special Humboldt penguins like me really are.
Humboldt penguins were one of the most anticipated animals when the Galápagos Islands exhibit opened in April 2023, and I’m proud to be one of the faces representing my species. As a bachelor this year, I’m free to focus on what I do best—being adorable, winning hearts, and spreading awareness about endangered Galápagos penguins.
