Madiba

King Penguin

I’m Madiba, a king penguin with an incredible story of survival. In January 2007, I was lost at sea with a Macaroni penguin, and we ended up on the shore in South Africa. Luckily, we were taken to Ajubatus Rehabilitation Center where I received treatment and a new name. The Omaha Zoo eventually worked with the rehab center to bring us to the zoo in January 2008. After being quarantined, we were finally taken to the penguin exhibit in March of that year. Since then, I have been living a happy life at the zoo and have even had three male offspring in 2011, 2018, and 2019.
