Meet Your Instructor, Katie Propp
Mrs. Katie’s decade of experience in education programming in informal education settings drove her proven success in interpreting science to diverse audiences through STEM programs and curriculums.
Katie worked with The Denver Zoo, The Center of Science and Industry, The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens, The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, The Chicago Zoological Society, explore.org and Polar Bears International. Recommended for Grades 3 & Up!
Waddle into Virtual Penguin Workshops. These 1-hour long classes cover a new topic each month! From penguin behavior to engineering challenges, bird adaptations to the science of feathers, each Penguin Workshop complements Next Generation Science Standards and encourages 21st-century skills development.

September 22, 24, 29th, and October 1, 6, or 8th
What do penguins do? Learn penguin behavior by creating and testing out an ethogram- a tool to measure penguin behavior, explore penguin interactions, and discover the differences between instincts and behaviors.
October 20, 22, 27, 29th, and November 3rd and 5th
What is black and white and fun all over? Penguins of course! Take a closer look at feathers and examine how they work to help penguins survive. Experiment with color and explore the world of birds in a new way!
Penguins and Pencils: Scientific Illustration

Expand creativity through science! This workshop is designed for budding artists to explore how art and science can be used together to save penguins. Put your pencils to paper to bring penguins to life.
December 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 29, and 31st
Crack the code behind the science of eggs. Discover what makes an egg unique and how penguin eggs are critical to penguin life cycles! Test out some cool experiments and learn why nests are so important.
