My Story
Hello, world! I’m Whitey, the most perfect little penguin (it’s not bragging if it’s true). At 38 years young, I’m the oldest penguin at Newport Aquarium and the 12th oldest Chinstrap in all of North America. Not bad, right? But don’t let my age fool you—I’m still as feisty and fabulous as ever!
I have a very busy schedule that includes chewing on the food bucket, lounging in fresh snow, and keeping all the bigger penguins in line. After all, someone’s gotta do it. As the last of my original colony, I am completely spoiled by my adoring keepers. They even throw me birthday parties, complete with guest-signed cards, photo displays, and, of course, cake. That’s right—I get my own fish cake.
Guests love me, keepers adore me, and I’ve even been featured in Joel Sartore’s Photo Ark! And let’s not forget my rising TikTok fame—it’s just a matter of time before I go viral. Last year, I didn’t make it far in this competition, but I’ve been training all year for my comeback. This is my moment. Let’s make my dream of worldwide penguin stardom come true!
