My Story
Hi, I’m Skip! I might be one of the oldest little penguins in captivity, but don’t let that fool you—I’m still living life to the fullest! Since settling in at Caversham Wildlife Park, I’ve had quite the journey: I’ve gone through a breakup, become a grandfather, and recently welcomed my new boyfriend into our cozy den.
When it comes to food, I like to keep things easy. Why dive deep when I can enjoy my fish right on top of the pool or straight from a keeper’s hand? Efficiency is key! And if you see me swimming, you might notice my signature move—tail up, gliding along in my own unique style.
I was rescued as a juvenile from Penguin Island, Western Australia, where my wild colony has sadly shrunk from thousands of penguins to just 114. That’s why I’m here—to help raise awareness for Little Penguins like me. Every waddle counts!
