My Story

Hey, I’m Phil! Though to some, I’m otherwise known Philbert or PHIL! Whatever you call me, I’m excited to be here, as this is my first ever contest!

I hatched last spring, alongside my sister Pebbles. Our parents, QB and Hogan, did an amazing job raising us. But suddenly, when I was about six weeks old, I started feeling really tired and didn’t want to eat much. Luckily, my dad is a big guy who wanted to see me prosper, so he donated some blood to help me bounce back. And boy, did I! Now I absolutely love to eat. Got any herring?

I take after my dad in more ways than one. We both rock a green band, and I definitely share his strong appetite. But I also have something totally unique—a legendary featherdo with a part on top of my head. My keepers have never seen a penguin with a style like mine, so I’m basically a trendsetter.

I was the smallest of the three chicks hatched last year, and we were the first chicks here in six years! My determination and my love for food helped me grow into a strong, healthy little dude. I’ve won over the hearts of my keepers, and I’m pretty attached to them too after all they’ve done for me.

There’s a few reasons that I should be crowned this year’s peng-win champion. First of, and most obviously, my name is Phil. Everybody loves a Phil, right? Second, I have a fantastic sense of style when it comes to my feather-do. My combover just can’t be beat. Then of course, there’s the fact that I’ve been a fighter since my hatching. In spite of some health challenges early in my life, I’ve managed to come out on top. I had the support of my dad and my keepers right by my side the entire way, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Lastly, my personability has made me well-loved by my keepers and all of my fans. In just a few weeks through this contest alone, I’ve shown what an incredible ambassador for Magellanic penguins I am. Let’s further show the world it’s true by voting for me as the peng-win champion of 2025’s March of the Penguin Madness!
