My Story

Hello! I’m Pesto, the King Penguin who believes in enjoying the little things in life. When I’m not sitting on big rocks and soaking up the sun, you’ll find me jamming to Taylor Swift or playing with bubbles. I love trout, exploring new enrichment activities with my pals Sausage, Beans, and Pudding (yes, our names have a theme!), and serenading the keepers during our morning clean.

I’ve been called a viral sensation ever since I first caught the world’s eye with my impressive size as a chick. It was all thanks to the extraordinary care from my adoptive parents, Tango and Hudson, who helped me reach a whopping 24.6 kg (54.2 lbs.) before I fledged. Over time, I’ve become known as a gentle giant with expansive star power. I even earned a nomination for TikTok Video of the Year!

But the best part? I’ve spread joy to billions of viewers and met some amazing celebrities along the way. That list includes Katy Perry, Olivia Rodrigo, Daniel Seavey, Rove, Thelma Plum, FLETCHER, and the Minister of Environment and Water, Tanya Plibersek. I’m proud to represent all penguins and show the world that no matter where you come from, you can shine bright and help raise awareness for conservation!
