My Story

Hi, I’m Ellis, a two-and-a-half-year-old Humboldt penguin with a big personality, and an even bigger love for food! I had a bit of a tough start. My parents faced challenges from other penguins in the colony, so my keepers stepped in to give me and my sister Jaz some extra care. I was also born with a cross-beak, but that hasn’t slowed me down one bit. I thrive just like any other penguin!

I’m easy to spot, not just because of my unique beak but also thanks to my iconic round figure. Some might say I resemble a rugby ball with a head, and honestly? I’m okay with that. I love perching on my favorite tall rock by the beach entrance, where I can interact with visitors and check out all the action.

While I may not be the prettiest penguin on the beach, I am one of the most endearing. My charm wins over keepers, guests, and fellow penguins alike, and I’m still holding out hope for my perfect penguin love story someday.
