My Story
If you’ve ever been to a feeding at the Lehigh Valley Zoo, you’ve definitely heard the name “Curtis” before. Honestly, you probably heard it more than once. That’s because I am, without a doubt, the most enthusiastic eater in my colony. When it’s feeding time, no hand, boot, bucket, or fellow penguin will stand between me and my fish.
But I’m more than just a buffet-line champion. I take my job very seriously, whether it’s overseeing mealtime, guarding my nest, or keeping a watchful eye on guests during penguin encounters. If there’s bubbles involved, you better believe I’m on high alert. No bubble shall enter my nest box if I can help it!
I’ve been a strong personality from the start. Just look at my ID band colors: red, black, and blue. Trust me, if you don’t respect my wishes, you might find yourself with a couple of bruises. At 19 years old, I still have the energy and fire of a juvenile, proving that age is just a number when you’ve got this much passion and energy.
My larger-than-life presence makes every encounter unforgettable, and I take great pride in being an ambassador for my species.
