My Story
Hey there, I’m Barbie. I’m the last chick of the 2023 season at Birdworld and a small but mighty Humboldt penguin with a huge personality! From the moment I hatched, I had to fight to be here, and now I make sure everyone knows I’m around, especially if they try to ignore me.
I was born looking like a fuzzy little bulldog, all round-bodied with a dent in my head. The dent is still visible sometimes, but don’t worry! It doesn’t slow me down one bit. I’m chatty, social, and always honk a greeting that instantly brightens everyone’s day. My bright, beady eyes make me stand out, and my love of big fish, the food bucket, and the pool vacuum make me unforgettable.
My story is extra special because I’m the last chick from my incredibly important bloodline. My mum, Poppy, was a strong penguin who battled arthritis for years. Sadly, she passed away when I was just a few weeks old, but I carry on her legacy every day.
I might be small, but I’m sassy, determined, and always first in line to “help” my keepers clean the pool. I overcame great challenges just to be here, and now I’m ready to take on March of the Penguin Madness!
